My local grocery store has just pulled another iteration of its usual
trick, offering a low-quality store brand and taking the previous
inexpensive brand from the shelves. In this case, they will no longer
be selling Cott brand pop, instead, something called ‘Our Compliments’
that I’ve never heard of before. (And Cott was the /only/ brand that
made a Black Cherry flavour pop, which is thus no longer available…)

/How/ low-quality, you might ask? Let me put it this way. The other
night, I tried a few sips from a can of the lemon-lime 7-UP clone,
“Choose Up”… and poured the rest down the sink. (And I’m the sort
that will finish off even a can of orange soda, which I’m not fond of,
if I open it.) Today, I had a few sips of the new brand’s root beer –
and it tasted /foul/. And not long after, I threw up. (No, nothing
else happened recently to cause that – it was the soda pop.)

Needless to say, I’m never going to drink another can of that brand.
(Sounds of rummaging for Tums and Pepto-Bismol.)

So, what are the odds that I’ll manage to get myself a free Google webmail address out of this?

I didn’t think so either.

If this was slashdot, somebody might actually care. Ah well – who knows if I’ll even manage to update this thing.
